Participation of Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev in the OSCE 30th Ministerial Council in Skopje
Turkmenistan Delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, Mr. Vepa Hajiyev, attended the OSCE 30th Ministerial Council held in Skopje on November 30 - December 1, 2023. Deputy Minister Hajiyev extended sincere thanks to the OSCE Chairman, Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Mr. Bujar Osmani, for exceptional hospitality and commended North Macedonia's successful chairpersonship of the Organization in 2023.
During the Council, Deputy Minister Hajiyev underscored Turkmenistan's unwavering commitment to collaborating with the OSCE and upholding its core values. He eloquently presented Turkmenistan's goals, priorities, and initiatives, emphasizing their alignment with the three dimensions of the OSCE's work. These initiatives by the President of Turkmenistan, H.E. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, spotlighted vital areas such as border security, climate change, and regional connectivity.
Turkmenistan's proposals included advancing border security through technological cooperation, establishing a unified information exchange database, and enhancing professional dialogue. Recognizing the critical issue of climate change, Turkmenistan advocates for a comprehensive Water Strategy for Central Asia and proposes the establishment of a Regional Centre for Climate Technologies. Furthermore, in the realm of transport and interconnectivity, Turkmenistan's commitment was highlighted by its recent initiatives, including the advancement of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the proposed Central Asian transport and logistics platform.
Concluding his address, Deputy Minister Hajiyev reiterated Turkmenistan's readiness for active and constructive dialogue, emphasizing the nation's dedication to overcoming regional challenges and fostering sustainable prosperity.
The 30th Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), held in Skopje on November 30 - December 1, 2023, saw the congregation of high-level participants from its 57 participating states. This pivotal meeting offered a platform for Foreign Ministers to deliberate on pressing security issues in the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian regions and to evaluate the organization's comprehensive activities.
