Vienna, April 8, 2025 —  the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Vienna co-organized the cultural event “Nowruz – Traditional Spring Celebration” in collaboration with The Diplomatic Society magazine and several embassies accredited in Vienna. The festive gathering, held in a spirit of intercultural dialogue, featured vibrant cultural performances, national cuisine, and a display of traditional artifacts representing the diverse cultural heritage of Turkmenistan and the participating nations.

As part of the cultural programme, a Turkmen student currently studying in Austria performed a traditional Turkmen song, captivating the audience with the unique melodies of Turkmen folklore. Attendees, including Ambassadors, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and international organizations, had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the artistic legacy of Nury Halmammedov – a renowned Turkmen composer whose works have left a significant mark on the cultural landscape of Turkmenistan.

Guests of the event explored the rich traditions of Nowruz in Turkmenistan at a specially arranged Turkmen cultural table. Here, they received detailed explanations about the customs surrounding Nowruz, as well as broader aspects of Turkmen heritage. Visitors learned about traditional musical instruments such as the gopuz and dutar, were introduced to the symbolism of national dress, and tasted dishes from the Turkmen culinary tradition. The presentation provided a holistic overview of Turkmen culture, allowing international guests to gain deeper insight into the identity, values, and history of the Turkmen people.
