Turkmenistan and the Republic of Austria confirm the effectiveness of neutral policy

On August 6, 2025, a meeting was held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria Joseph Schellhorn.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, in particular cooperation in the political, diplomatic and trade and economic spheres.
The diplomats noted the special significance and effectiveness of neutrality, which is the basis of the foreign policy of the two countries. In this context, it was emphasized that this year coincided with the anniversary dates, the 70th and 30th anniversaries of neutrality of Austria and Turkmenistan.
The diplomats discussed issues faced by landlocked countries. In this context, it was noted that Austria hosted the Second UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in 2014.
In addition, the parties exchanged views on key aspects of the international agenda.
