From 2 to 4 October 2025, a series of cultural, diplomatic and academic events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality took place in the town of Lakitelek, Hungary. The program was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan to Hungary and brought together a wide audience of diplomats, government representatives, cultural figures, students, and youth, creating a genuine atmosphere of friendship and dialogue.

Over the course of three days, guests had the opportunity to attend a musical concert featuring artists from Turkmenistan, who introduced the Hungarian audience to the rich musical heritage of the Turkmen people. The performances included national compositions by Turkmen composers and singers, the traditional art of bagshy, and the melodic sounds of the dutar and other folk instruments.

In parallel, the Embassy organized an exhibition of Turkmen applied arts, where visitors could admire traditional crafts, carpets, embroidery, and decorative works showcasing the beauty and skill of Turkmen artisans. A separate exhibition presented the latest books authored by the President of Turkmenistan, H.E. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, including “Magtymguly – the Sage of the World” and “Anau – Culture from the Depths of Millennia.” These publications highlight Turkmenistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage, as well as the President’s vision for promoting peace, cultural dialogue, and humanistic values on the international stage.

The events were attended by Ambassadors accredited in Hungary, representatives of the Government of Hungary and the Office of the President of Hungary, officials of the local administration, students and youth studying in Hungary, as well as members of the public and media. The diverse participation of guests underscored the mutual interest in strengthening the long-standing ties between Turkmenistan and Hungary in various spheres.

The culmination of the three-day program was a conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, which provided a platform for diplomatic and academic discussions on the achievements of Turkmenistan as a permanently neutral state. Speakers emphasized the country’s successful implementation of its policy of positive neutrality, which contributes to promoting peace, dialogue, and sustainable development at both the regional and global levels. The conference reaffirmed that Turkmenistan’s neutrality — recognized and reaffirmed through three United Nations resolutions — remains a cornerstone of its foreign policy and a model of constructive diplomacy.
