ASPECTS OF STRATEGIC ECONOMIC COOPERATION OF THE CIS COUNTRIES DISCUSSED IN MINSK

On October 16, 2019, in Minsk, under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan, a meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries of the Member States of the Commonwealth under its statutory and other bodies was held.

During the meeting, the results of the recent Summit of the Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Ashgabat and the tasks of the CIS Executive Committee on the implementation of the adopted documents were discussed.

As was emphasized, the main outcome document is the Declaration on Strategic Economic Cooperation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States developed and adopted at the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The participants focused on the tasks of strategic economic cooperation in accordance with the Declaration.

It was noted that the basis of economic cooperation among the CIS member countries is a strong union of equal partners, which is an important component of stable economic growth in the Eurasian space. This union is a long-term and promising economic partner for European and Asian countries, a major energy and transport and transit hub of continental importance.

The meeting also considered the issues of preparing for the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which is scheduled to be held in Moscow in the third decade of October.
