HIGH-LEVEL EVENT ON FINANCING FOR DEVELOPMENT IN THE ERA OF COVID-19 AND BEYOND DISCUSSED FINANCIAL ISSUES

On May 28, 2020, a high-level meeting on financing for development in the era of COVID-19 and beyond was held in video format.

The event was jointly organized by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Jamaica's Prime Minister Andrew Holness. The event was attended by delegations of UN member states. From the Turkmen side, the Minister of Finance and Economics of Turkmenistan E.Annamuhammedov attended the meeting.

The event was held in three segments. The first is a high-level segment where heads of state and government declared their readiness to decisively contribute to the implementation of global solutions to combat the global economic crisis and its consequences for the most vulnerable segments of the population. The second is a meeting of a high-level group composed of heads of international institutions. The third is a high-level segment on the adoption of measures with the participation of heads of state and government and partners.

Specific financial decisions were discussed during the COVID-19 developmental emergency and beyond, and support issues as part of the response to this emergency and recovery from it.
