The main gas pipeline "East-West" has been put into operation

On December 23, 2015 in province Balkan held the ceremony of commissioning the main gas pipeline "East-West", which merged into a single gas transportation system of the largest fields in Turkmenistan.

The ceremony of commissioning of the gas pipeline "East-West", linking in a single gas transportation system of the country's largest deposits was attended by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who arrived to Balkan province on a working visit.

To participate in the ceremony of commissioning of the pipeline arrived members of the Government, deputies of the Mejlis, heads of the ministries and departments, representatives of accredited diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan, heads of diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan abroad, representatives of domestic and foreign media.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated all participants with the historical event - the opening in the Balkan province of large energy facilities – main gas pipeline "East-West". Emphasizing the paramount importance of today's event, the Turkmen leader noted that the length of the pipeline "East-West" is nearly 800 kilometers, and its annual capacity is designed to supply 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The cost of the project exceeds 2 billion 500 million US dollars.

In this context President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the new gas pipeline was built by domestic enterprises, which demonstrates the existence of a large economic and financial potential in Turkmenistan.

This project is designed to support international cooperation in the energy sector, given that the borders of supply of Turkmen hydrocarbon resources in the long term join the new regions and areas. The pipeline will devote significant amounts of gas fields of the country's largest export points to existing and prospective directions of supplies.
