Presentation of the Book of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov "Magtymguly – the Sage of the World" at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna

Vienna, April 2, 2025 — The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan in Vienna hosted a solemn presentation of the new book by the President of Turkmenistan, titled "Magtymguly – the Sage of the World," at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna.

The event hosted in the frames of the Nowruz celebrations brought together an esteemed audience, including Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives accredited to the United Nations in Vienna, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, as well as young people and students from Turkmenistan, Austria, and other countries currently studying in Austrian universities.

During the presentation it was highlighted about the special significance of the presentation taking place in the context of the 300th anniversary of the great poet and philosopher of the East, Magtymguly Fragi. It was recalled that in 2024, a wide range of commemorative events had been launched in honor of this milestone, which continue to be held in line with the decision of UNESCO to include the 300th anniversary of the poet in the List of Celebrations for 2024–2025.

The newly published book was presented together with the analysis of its relevance and value in the further study and international recognition of Magtymguly’s legacy. The book " Magtymguly – the Sage of the World" offers an in-depth exploration of the poet’s impact on the Turkmen nation’s history, his lasting contribution to global literature, and the profound philosophical and humanist messages embedded in his works.

The publication reflects not only the scientific endeavors dedicated to the study of Magtymguly’s life and oeuvre but also emphasizes the timeless wisdom in his verses that advocate for peace, unity, and respect among nations. It also documents the array of international events held in 2024 under the theme “Fount of wisdom Magtymguly Fragi”.

Notably, the book underscores how the poet’s moral legacy has shaped the foundations of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy. As stated in the book, the humanistic ideas of Magtymguly lie at the heart of Turkmenistan’s international initiatives, including the United Nations General Assembly Resolution declaring 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.

The presentation concluded with a dedicated stand organized by the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna, where guests had the opportunity to become acquainted with the publication in three languages — Turkmen, Russian, and English.
