Vienna, May 2025 — The delegation of Turkmenistan is actively participating in the 34th session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), currently being held at the United Nations Office in Vienna.

The session, which gathers high-level representatives from UN Member States and international organizations provides a vital platform for dialogue and cooperation on global efforts to combat crime and enhance criminal justice systems.

During the session, the delegation of Turkmenistan emphasized Turkmenistan’s continued efforts to prevent and combat various forms of crime, including corruption, human trafficking, terrorism, and other transnational threats. The representative highlighted Turkmenistan’s commitment to working closely with international partners, particularly the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), to enhance national and regional responses to these challenges.

As part of these efforts, Turkmenistan has developed and adopted two significant strategic frameworks for the period 2025–2029:

  • The National Program to Combat Corruption, aimed at strengthening anti-corruption policies and enhancing institutional transparency.
  • The National Plan of Action to Combat Human Trafficking, focused on prevention, protection, prosecution, and partnership.

The representative also recalled that in 2023, on the initiative of Turkmenistan, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 77/32. This resolution underscores the importance of developing and strengthening international cooperation and partnerships to consolidate global efforts in the fight against transnational organized crime and terrorism. It calls for enhanced capacities of law enforcement agencies to detect, investigate, and prosecute both traditional and emerging forms of crime.

The delegation reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s strong commitment to multilateralism and its active role in implementing international strategies aimed at maintaining peace, security, and justice.
