Consular legalization
Consular legalization of documents means certifying the authenticity of the authorized public official’s signature and the public entity’s seal of foreign state. The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Vienna is accredited to the Republic of Austria, Hungary, the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic. Therefore, documents only of those countries can be submitted and legalized at the Consulate Section of the Embassy.
Below are state entities of respective countries responsible for certification of a document prior to submission at the Embassy:
- The Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria (more information available here).
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary (more information available here).
- The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
Once certified by one of these agencies, a document is eligible for consular legalization by the Embassy of Turkmenistan.
Required documents to be submitted:
- application for the legalization (sample form attached);
- original document for legalization;
- copy of a document for legalization;
- receipt of payment.
Submission of application:
- in person, make an appointment here; or
- by mail, send to the Embassy’s address (Embassy of Turkmenistan in Vienna, Argentinierstraße 22/Stiege II/EG, 1040 Wien). It is recommended to send registered mail to track delivery status.
Collection of documents:
- in person, make an appointment here; or
- by mail. To get back a document by mail one is required at the submission stage to include in the list of required documents a registered mail envelope with a return address providing the ability to track delivery status.
Important: the Embassy does not take responsibility in case of loss or delay of postal mail.
Consular fees.
Consular fees are 55.00 EUR for each legalized document and are to be paid by bank transfer to the Embassy account (Embassy bank details).
