Turkmenistan Participates in the OSCE–Central Asia Border Commanders Forum in Istanbul

Istanbul, 19 June 2025– The Delegation of Turkmenistan, led by Lieutenant Colonel Babamurat Yagshymov, Deputy Border Commander of the State Frontier Service, successfully participated in the 2025 Forum of the OSCE Secretary General and Central Asia Border Commanders, held on 18–19 June in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The Forum brought together senior representatives from Central Asia, the OSCE, and participating states to address cross-border security challenges, promote regional cooperation and enhance preparedness for natural and human-made disasters.

During the discussions, the Turkmen side reaffirmed its commitment to neutrality, peaceful dialogue, and regional stability, emphasizing the importance of viewing borders as zones of peace and cooperation. The Delegation also expressed support for OSCE-led initiatives and highlighted the productive collaboration with the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat.

The Forum concluded with a technical visit to Istanbul International Airport, showcasing modern border security infrastructure and interagency coordination mechanisms.

Turkmenistan stands ready to continue contributing to regional efforts aimed at strengthening trust, promoting dialogue, and enhancing border management in line with international standards.
