Ambassador of Turkmenistan met the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the OSCE, H.E. Ambassador Hemra Amannazarov held a meeting with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Mr. Pere Joan Pons, during which the sides exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
The discussion focused on strengthening parliamentary dialogue, enhancing cooperation within the OSCE framework and ensuring active and constructive participation of Turkmen parliamentarians in OSCE PA activities. In this context, the importance of Turkmenistan’s engagement in recent OSCE PA events was highlighted, including the Autumn Meeting held in Istanbul, as well as preparations for the upcoming Winter Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vienna.
Special attention was paid to the role of Young Parliamentarians and the importance of fostering inclusive parliamentary participation, experience-sharing and capacity-building among the younger generation of lawmakers.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on regional and broader OSCE-wide challenges, underlining the value of dialogue, parliamentary diplomacy and cooperative approaches in addressing them.
During the meeting, the Turkmen side expressed interest in further developing cooperation with the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, including through the organization of a regional parliamentary event in Ashgabat. In this regard, the possibility of a visit by President Pere Joan Pons to Turkmenistan was discussed as an important step toward deepening parliamentary engagement and regional dialogue.
