Cultural event in Vienna marks the beginning of 2026: “Independent neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful winged horses”

Vienna, 12 January 2026 -
A cultural event marking the beginning of 2026 - “Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the homeland of purposeful winged horses” - was held in Vienna by the Embassy of Turkmenistan within the framework of the Turkic States Organization Cultural Week at the United Nations Center.
The exhibition featured traditional Turkmen textiles, national garments, carpets, handicrafts, silver jewelry, and artistic depictions of the Ahal-Teke horse. These elements highlighted the richness of Turkmen craftsmanship and the deep cultural significance of the horse, reflecting the spirit of the year’s designation.
The opening was attended by the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States, representatives of the United Nations Office in Vienna, members of the diplomatic corps, and other invited guests. The Embassy emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to expanding cultural exchange and strengthening cooperation within the Turkic world.
