Turkmenistan and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Explore Future Cooperation and Support for Regional Parliamentary Dialogue in Ashgabat

The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the OSCE, Ambassador Hemra Amannazarov, held a meeting with the Special Representative of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on Central Asia, Angelos Syrigos, on the margins of the OSCE PA Winter Meeting in Vienna.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on priority areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, with a particular focus on strengthening parliamentary dialogue, promoting confidence-building and enhancing regional cooperation in Central Asia. Ambassador Amannazarov underlined Turkmenistan’s consistent support for constructive parliamentary engagement within the OSCE framework and the importance of inclusive, consensus-based approaches.

The discussion also covered practical proposals for future cooperation, including increased interaction among parliamentarians of Central Asian states, thematic exchanges on regional challenges, and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting stability, connectivity and sustainable development.

Special attention was given to Turkmenistan’s initiative to continue hosting regional parliamentary meetings in Ashgabat. In this context, Ambassador Amannazarov expressed appreciation for the OSCE PA’s interest in supporting the organization of the third regional conference of OSCE parliamentarians in Ashgabat, noting that such meetings provide a valuable platform for dialogue, experience-sharing and forward-looking cooperation.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Turkmenistan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to deepen cooperation, strengthen regional parliamentary networks and advance dialogue-based solutions in addressing common challenges.
