Delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the 69th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs

On March 9, 2025, the delegation of Turkmenistan, led by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, took part in the 69th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), held at the UN Office in Vienna.

The session brought together representatives of Member States, international organizations, and experts to discuss global efforts in addressing drug-related challenges, strengthening international cooperation, and promoting effective strategies to combat illicit drug trafficking and abuse.

During the session, Mr. Kakalyyev reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to international cooperation in countering drug trafficking and organized crime. He highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen border security, enhance law enforcement capacities, and implement national programs aimed at preventing drug abuse and ensuring public safety.

It was also highlighted that Turkmenistan actively participates in regional and international initiatives aimed at combating drug trafficking and strengthening multilateral cooperation.

On the margins of the session, a meeting was held with Mr. Oliver Stolpe, UNODC Regional Representative for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan. During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of cooperation and prospects for further strengthening joint efforts in combating illicit drug trafficking and enhancing regional coordination.

The delegation also participated in side events where they shared best practices with international colleagues and explored innovative approaches to strengthening global drug policy.
